Birthday Bash

We have 2 things that are new in our family - a 7 year old, and a new kitten! Actually the 7 year old isn't new, just a year older! Emily's birthday present is the kitten. She named him Pepper.

This was Emily's year for a birthday party, so yesterday we found ourselves with 14 little girls in our house - and we survived it! Emily had a Hannah Montana party, so we did dress-up games and made autograph books. We even decorated a "stage" so the girls could give all the parents a concert - too fun!

I made the cake, of course, and Elizabeth made pink and green popcorn balls (mostly by herself)! She helped out a lot with the younger kids at the party - I couldn't have done it without her! She is becoming quite the grown up girl!

Here are some pictures of the party:

Here is Emily with Pepper and a video clip showing how she takes care of him:

Spring Fever

As you can tell, it's been a while since our last post. I finally got a new camera, so hopefully that will motivate me to post pictures more often.

Elizabeth ended up not doing the swim team, but has been in gymnastics all year. She enjoys it and has improved quite a bit since she started.

Emily finished soccer and played on a basketball team during the winter. If she has a competitive side, it must have been in hibernation. She was frequently seen skipping merrily from one end of the court to the other! At least she enjoyed herself! She just finished up a couple of sessions of swim lessons, and is starting to play softball in a non-competitive league.

Last night both girls had their spring musical at school. We were very proud of them. Emily played the triangle for her class performance.

The 4th grade put on a musical, and Elizabeth had 2 solo parts. She was very nervous, which made us nervous for her, but we think she did a great job. Here are a couple of video clips of the solos.

We're looking forward to school ending and all of the fun summer "stuff" we have planned. Maybe we'll put pictures up after each of our "adventures"!

School Year Begins

Things are into full swing again now that school is back in session. Emily is playing soccer at school again this year, and this time, I'm the coach - yikes! I had to get a book from the library just to give me a starting point. Luckily 1st and 2nd graders are easily impressed!

Elizabeth started gymnastics last week. Before her first class she saw some younger girls who were part of a pre-competition training team and she decided that she wants to be in the Olympics. I told her to start by seeing how beginning gymnastics goes! She also starts on the swim team again - that's 2 nights a week so it will keep us hopping. Somehow we still plan to eat a family dinner together - thank goodness for crock pots!
